Kelly Rizor's PledgePage
On July 12th-14th I am taking on a very exciting personal and physical challenge. I will be participating in the 2002 Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day. It is a 72 hour, 60 mile walk to raise money for breast cancer research as well as promote awareness. I will be walking from San Jose to San Francisco, California.
There are over one million women in America with undetected breast cancer and breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women. As a woman you have a 1 in 8 chance of getting breast cancer. This is a disease that affects the women in our lives- our mothers, our wives, our sisters, our daughters, and our best friends. One of the most important women in my life, Eileen Sargent, is a survivor of breast cancer. She is my grandmother and I walk in honor of her survival. I also walk for all the women in your life. Every day scientific advances are being made in the area of cancer research. The crucial driving force behind this research is funding. That is why programs such as the Avon 3-Day were developed- to give people a chance to donate to an amazing cause. My goal is to raise $2000.
